Mother Mittie Lou McGriff-Williams was 89 years old, born March 5, 1928 in Gordon, Alabama to parents, the late Dan and Lula McGriff.
Home going celebration services for Mother Mittie will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at Snow Hill AME Church in Malone, Florida with Pastor Reverend Larry Brown officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 in Clearman Chapel at Southern Heritage Funeral Home.
Mother Mittie was one of eleven children, which all preceded her in death. Mother Mittie was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 31 years, Wesley D. Williams (Dubb), and one precious granddaughter, Tanya R. Brown.
Mother Mittie was a die-hard, never give up, strong, never quit, prayer warrior that loved God with all her heart. She accepted Christ at an early age and attended St. Mary Missionary Baptist Church in Gordon, Alabama until her marriage when she joined her husband, who served as Deacon, at Snow Hill AME Church until his passing. She then attended 7th United Holiness Church with her children and remained faithful to Christ until she was called home on October 5, 2017 at 4:35 AM.
Ms. Williams is preceded in death by five sisters, Johnnie Mae McGriff-Robeson-Fields, Louise McGriff-Futch, Mary Etta McGriff-Nix, Charlie Mae McGriff- Banks and Kaye Francis McGriff, four brothers, Johnny H. McGriff, Eddie B. McGriff, Paul McGriff and Johnny Frank McGriff.
Mother Mittie leaves to cherish her memory three daughters, Barbara Yeboah, Mary Alice Roberson, Christine and Hosea Henry, grandchildren, Jeffrey Yeboah, Kenisha Fugeroa, Shanta Yeboah, Dewayne Henry, Elizabeth Henry, Timothy Henry, 10 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
The family wishes to thank Robert Earl Jackson, Brad and Demetria Futch, Danny and Carol Nix, Rev. Larry and Carolyn Daniels. Special friends, David and Noretha Thomas, Mable Perry, Manda Jackson, Rossie Scott and Vinell Williams.
