Obituary:  Mr. Angus Franklin “Johnny” Childs


 


Mr. Angus Franklin “Johnny” Childs of Hartford passed away Saturday, July 12, 2014 at Southeast Alabama Medical Center.  He was 77. 


Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, July 14, in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory in Geneva with Rev. Chris Kroll officiating.  Burial will follow in the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery in Hartford. 


The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 1:00 p.m. until service time.  


In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you remember Johnny with your contribution to the Hartford Retirement Village, 12196 E. AL State Hwy. 52 Hartford, AL 36344. 


Mr. Childs was born October 24, 1936 in Geneva County to the late Elton and Clara Lou Fain Childs. Johnny worked for many years as a farmer and enjoyed the tending his garden. He was an enthusiastic fisherman and attended Hartford Baptist Church. 


In addition to his parents, two sisters: Betty Calhoun and Annie Jane Oscarwitz and an infant brother preceded him in death. 


Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Chase and Meagan Childs, along with their daughter, who is expected to arrive in August, Hartford; mother of his son, Debra Childs Henderson, Geneva; a number of special nieces, nephews, other extended family and friends; and two special canine buddies: Mercedeez and J.J.
