Barry Guy Shields, a resident of Greenwood, Florida died Saturday, April 18, 2015 at the Southeast Alabama Medical Center. He was 52.

 

Memorial services for Mr. Shields will be held at 1 PM Monday, April 20, 2015 at Dothan Christian Fellowship with Chaplain Phillip Durr officiating.

 

Barry was born February 3, 1963 in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Bedney and Relda Jean Nettles Shields. He was raised in Orlando and joined the United States Navy in 1982 and was granted an Honorable Discharge in 1999. Barry worked as a Corrections Officer for the State of Florida at the Sunland location. He loved baseball and was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves.

 

Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Diana Shields; special four legged friend, Regis; sister, Mandy Albright; brothers, Rodney Shields, Bedney Shields, Marvin Shields and Ron Shields. The family wishes to thank AlaCare Hospice, SAMC 3^rd floor staff and the Mexican Connection staff. A huge thank you goes out to Sylvia Benavente for being the families’ angel during this time in their life.
