SEALE, AL . . . Bennie L. Ward, a resident of Seale, AL formerly of Abbeville, AL passed away peacefully on July 5th, 2021 at the age of 89 at Columbus Hospice.
Celebration of Life services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Eastern, Saturday
July 10, 2021, at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 3770 U.S. 431, Phenix City, AL. Pastor Todd Horne will lead the celebration.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Columbus Hospice Inc., 7020 Moon Rd., Columbus, GA or Golden Acres Baptist Church Seniors, 3405 S. Railroad St., Phenix City, AL 36867.
Mr. Ward was born Nov. 2, 1931, in Henry County, son of the late John Ward and Eunice Kirkland Ward. He was a member of Golden Acres Baptist Church . Mr. Ward was preceded in death by sisters, Jewel Brackin, and twins, Ruth Armstrong and Sylvia Nell Ward; brothers, Odell, Eugene and Marcus Ward, and a great-grandson, Brady Bullock.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Pamela Tucker Ward, Seale; children Janice Griffin (Roger), Steve Ward (Donna), Todd Ward (Candace), all of Abbeville, Sheila Cobb (Ricky), Dothan; and Jeremie Redden (Lauren), Seale. He also leaves grandchildren: Kristi Bullock (Jon), Kerri Cobb, Jason Cory (Tiffany), Justin Cory (Faith), Stephanie Volf (Blake), Stephen Ward, Dawn Ward and Jordan Ward, Caroline Redden; and great-grandchildren, Ella Bullock, Ashleigh & Addison Taylor, Cooper Roberts, Jordan & Abigail Cory; Devin Bill, Noah Breaux and Lily Volf; numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Ward was a retired farmer and avid fisherman from Henry County, Al. He diversified his farming to include cotton, peanuts, grains and cattle. He was a highly skilled fisherman who fished often, didn’t care what he caught, and rarely came in empty handed. Mr. Ward had a great love of music and singing; and has written and recorded several songs. He’s also written numerous poems and short stories, and was a published author. His love of the Lord gave him a yearning to share God’s word with others through his testimony and song. That was his greatest joy.
