Mr. Billy Gerald Bowdoin of Samson passed away Wednesday, December 12, 2018. He was 76.


Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 15, 2018 in the Chapel of Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home in Geneva, Alabama, with the Rev. Phillip Barnes officiating.  Burial will follow in Travelers Rest Cemetery in Samson with Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home directing.  Visitation will be on Friday, December 14, 2018 from 6:00 until  8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.


Mr. Bowdoin was born April 22, 1942 in Coffee County Alabama to the late Wentford Eli and Rosa Dale Barberree Bowdoin. Bill was an avid fisherman. He enjoyed hunting with his old dogs, riding horses and farming, including poultry farming. Each of these were a huge part of his life. He believed in hard work and devoted his life to his family. Bill was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon.


He is preceded in death by his parents, son, Shane Bowdoin; three sisters; Dorothy Nobles, Margaret Maloy and Sue Nell Bollinger; and one brother; Joe Harold Bowdoin.


He is survived by his wife; Johnnie Harrison Bowdoin of Samson; son, Gabe Bowdoin (Jenise) of Geneva; daughter, Mable Lawley (Leon) of Clearwater, FL; seven grandchildren, Holten Shane Bowdoin of Dothan, Morgan Bowdoin of Samson, Cort, Gabby and Brie Bowdoin, all of Geneva; Mya and Seff Lawley of Clearwater, FL and Ryan, a very special young man Bill had a hand in raising; one brother, Bob Bowdoin (Shirley) and one sister, Gail Andress (Coley), all of Samson, and a number of special nieces and nephews.


 


Serving as pallbearers will be; Farold Ausley, Billy Kelley, Robert White, Bryan Bedsole, Larry Livings and Dennis Morgan.
