Mr. Billy Joe Harden, age 82, a resident of Cottonwood, passed away Wednesday, September 2, 2020 at a local hospital.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Saturday, September 5, 2020 at Glover Funeral Home with Reverend Jerry Harden officiating. Burial will follow at the Madrid City Cemetery with Glover Funeral Home directing. The family wishes for everyone to remain safe and that all social distancing and masking guidelines be observed.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 10:00 am till 10:45 am at Glover Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Madrid Assembly of God Church, 238 Decatur Road, Cottonwood, AL 36320.
Mr. Billy was born July 11, 1938 in Houston County the son of Reese Samson and Myrtle Dasinger Harden. He lived in the Dothan area his entire life. Billy was a supervisor at Headstrom for 33 years and for 7 years he worked at Southeast AL Gas District. Billy served in the US Army and was a member of Madrid Assembly of God Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, George Harden, Ben Harden and Elbert Harden, a sister, Mary Lewis.
Survivors include his wife, Merle Harden of Cottonwood; two sons, Todd (Kris) Harden of Huntsville and Terry Harden of Cottonwood; a daughter, Debbie Jean (Eddie) McMillan of Tampa, FL; a granddaughter, Kayla Harden of Ozark; three grandsons, Jared Harden (Chelsea) of Hartford, Bradley Harden of Cottonwood and Steven (Amanda) McMillan of Brandon, FL; four great-grandchildren, Kayden and Dawson McDonald, Connor and Jameson McMillan; three brothers, Rev. Jerry (Robbie) Harden of Madrid, Robert (Sue) Harden of Madrid and Charles (Betty) Harden of Cowarts; three sisters, Evelyne Sizemore of Rehobeth, Syble Dixon of Dothan and Linda (Robert) Floyd of Dothan; four sister-in-laws, Merle Harden of Madrid and Margie Harden of Madrid, Faye Richter and family and Ann Tweatt; several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be; Jimmy Lewis, Todd Harden, Jared Harden, Bradley Harden, Eddie McMillan and Daniel Olson.
Honorary Pallbearers will be; Terry Harden, Jacob Harden and Alex Kominos.
