Mr. Billy Joe Sallas of Dothan passed away Thursday, July 14, 2022 at the age of 90.


Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. Saturday, July 16, 2022 at Ward Wilson Funeral Home with Reverend Stephanie Cox officiating and Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing.


Burial will follow in Ashford City Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing.


The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10 to 11 A.M. Saturday, July 16, 2022, one hour prior to the service.


Mr. Sallas was born August 10, 1931 in Ardilla, Al to the late D.H. and Ethel Sallas. He graduated from Cottonwood High School. He married Roberta Gay in 1951.


Mr. Sallas began life as a farmer, he worked at Supreme/Meadow Gold Ice Cream Company for over 30 years, and in retirement worked for several years at Lewis-Smith Supply.


For over 50 years, he was a dedicated member of Highland Park UMC, singing in the choir for most of that time.


He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Roberta Sallas and sister, Lenora Lewis.


Survivors include daughters, Sandra Boyle (Bob), Gale Gray (Randall), Elizabeth Whitfield (Russ), grandchildren, Marc Hall (Christy), Courtney Foley (James), Jessica Hutchings (Michael), Daniel Whitfield (Lynn), Dustin Whitfield (Brandi), and several great-grandchildren.


The family would like to extend a special thanks to Mark Mashburn and the staff at Legacy Therapy for their care and support.
