Mr. Broxson was born March 2, 1928, in Geneva County, Alabama to the late Sam Oliver, Sr. and Zora McLaney Broxson. After 22 ½ years of service he retired from the U. S. Air Force. He loved the saying “Old soldiers never die; they just fade away”.
He later worked at Ft. Rucker for 10 years and with the DOT for four years. For the last few years he spent much of his time with his faithful canine companion, Lady. Mr. Broxson was a profound Christian. He was a man of faith and was concerned about everyone’s soul he came in contact with. He will fondly be remembered for his saying “with faith I will not break” and his unshakable faith was evident to the very end.
In addition to his parents, his wife, Betty C. Broxson, his step mother, Fairy V. Broxson, two brothers: Sam Broxson, Jr. and Sidney Clayton Broxson, as well as a sister, Mary Nell Griffin, preceded him in death.
Survivors include one son, Richard Broxson (Beverly) of Mobile, AL; two daughters: DeNiece Davis (Michael) of Temple, GA and Lynn Newsome (Fred) of Enterprise, AL; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters: Joan Chancellor of Chancellor, AL and Dorothy Jean McMillan of Talladega, AL; several nieces, nephews, other extended family and friends.
The family would like to say a special thank you to Gentiva Hospice and Angel Hands Homecare for their loving and devoted care for their Dad, especially his sitter, Walter Rich.
