Billy Earl Parish
Billy Earl Parish, age 86, of Gordon, passed away early Thursday morning, June 3,
2021 at his home, surrounded by his family and under the care of Kindred Hospice.
Memorial services for Mr. Parish will be held at 2pm Saturday, June 5, 2021, at
Wayside Baptist Church in Ashford with Reverend Van Clack officiating. The family

Billy was born on September 6, 1934 to the late Edgar “Josh” Parish and Posie Watson
Parish. He was a lifetime resident of Gordon, with the exception of his time in the
Army. Billy was a 1954 graduate of Ashford High School. After high school, he joined
the Army and served in the country and received an honorable discharge. He was a
former sheet metal mechanic and for many years farmed and owned a gas station in
Pansey. He later worked as an animal control officer with the Houston County Health
Department and upon his retirement, Billy enjoyed working with produce and owned a
produce stand in Pansey. He loved to watch the Atlanta Braves and Alabama football,
but nothing brought more joy to Billy than spending time with his family, especially his
grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Billy is preceded in death by a son-in-law, Ronnie Ingram.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Helen Cockrell Parish of Gordon; his daughters,
Lynda Ingram and Laurie Parish Money, both of Gordon; his grandchildren, Vickie
Hogan (Scott), Jenny Lucas (Jonathan), Josh Parish, and Newt Money; his great-
grandchildren, Helen Claire Lucas, Jon Wilson Lucas, Ellie Grace Plant, Evan Hogan,
and Nathan Hogan. He is also survived by two brothers-in-law, Charles (Roberta)
Cockrell of Fuquay, NC, and Jerry Weaver of Newport, NC; and a sister-in-law, Phyllis
(Pete) Rowe of Kenly, NC.
