Billy Ray Rabon, age 86, of Dothan, Alabama passed away on Thursday, June 23, 2016.


Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, June 26, 2016 in Clearman Chapel at Southern Heritage Funeral Home with Reverend Ron Bruce officiating. The family will receive friends from   2:00 PM until 2:45 PM prior to the service, and at other times will be at the family home.


Mr. Rabon was born on December 1, 1929 in Houston County, Alabama to the late WC and Bera Johnson Rabon. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and sang in the Senior Choir, and was a faithful servant until his health prevented him from going. He was a veteran of the United States Army and fought in the Korean War. Mr. Rabon worked for the Postal Service and retired as a Rural Mail Carrier after 18 years of service.


Mr. Rabon was preceded in death by his parents; and one son, John Rabon; brothers Johnny, Otho, Odis, and WC Rabon; and sisters Mary Francis Rabon, and Kathryn Rabon McCraney.


Survivors include his wife Mary Ethel Rabon; sons Tony Rabon, Dothan, Alabama, Dennis (Rhonda) Rabon, Crawford, Texas, and Ronald (Diane) Rabon, Nolenville, Tennessee; grandchildren, Courtney Rabon Hedges (Marcus), Skylar Rabon, Matthew McEntire, and Amber LeBouef; great grandchildren, Chase Pollard, Allyson LeBouef, and Mason Hedges; a brother, David (Patsy) Rabon, Cottonwood, Alabama; and a sister, Monell Schaeffer, Wernersville, Pennsylvania.
