Mr. Billy Ray Tallent of Dothan passed away Wednesday, September 19, 2012, at the Southeast Alabama Medical Center. He was 75.


Funeral services will be held at 10 A.M. Saturday, September 22, 2012, at Faith Tabernacle with Reverends T.P. Martin and Markus Ramor officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing.


The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 P.M. Friday, September 21, 2012. In lieu of flowers, the family request that contributions be made to the Veterans Administration.


Mr. Tallent was a member of Faith Tabernacle. He retired from the Air Force after 20 years of service. His second career was the family Auto Parts Business, Tallents Used Parts. He loved being involved with the Racing Team with his children and grandchildren.


He is preceded in death by his parents, Baron Ray Tallent and Fannie Harris Tallent, his wife, Merkis Tallent who died on August 18, 2012, and one brother, Raymond (Buck) Tallent.


Survivors include his daughters, Teresa Mixon and her husband, Phillip of Spanish Fort, AL; Jean Barrett and her husband, Ray of Little Rock, AK; sons, Greg Tallent, Sr. and his wife, Lawana of Dothan; Vernon Cain and his wife Mia of Ozark; Ray Tallent and his wife, Sandy of Pine Bluff, AK; Steve Tallent and his wife, Lisa of Little Rock, AK; sister, Jane Hunt of Telico Plains, TN; brother, Charles (Punkin) Tallent and his wife, Marilyn of Telico Plains, TN; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.


Pallbearers will be Gregory Tallent, II, Jimmy Prather, Baron Tallent, Ryan Lewis, Glenn Jones, and Billy Tice.


Honorary pallbearer will be Scott Dixon.
