Mr. Billy Sam Newton, age 85, a resident of Dothan, passed away Wednesday, October 31, 2018 at Southeast Health.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday November 3, 2018 at Rehobeth Baptist Church with Reverend Chad Hixson officiating. Burial will follow in the Rehobeth Cemetery with Kendall Glover directing.
The family will be receiving friends from 12:45 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. prior to services on Saturday at the church. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Rehobeth Baptist Church, 4444 State Hwy. 605, Rehobeth, AL, 36301.
Mr. Newton was born on June 14, 1933 in Geneva County the son of Benjamin Harrison Newton and Ether Smith Newton. He moved with his family to Rehobeth when he was 1 year old. He was a truck driver for 34 years, during that time he worked with P. C. White Truck Line and Whatley White Trucking. Mr. Newton served 4 years in the U.S. Air Force and was a lifelong member of Rehobeth Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson, Timothy John Chumney, a sister, Verlon Melatt and a brother, Wallace Newton.
Survivors include: wife of 57 years, Everlene Newton; son, Bobby Newton; 4 daughters, Patricia Senn, Wanda Newton Baxter; all of Rehobeth; daughter, Betty Robinson, Slocomb; Pam Perez (Fausto), Malvern; 9 grandchildren, Christopher Newton (Alexis), Nick Chumney (Jordan), Amber Baxter (Brittany), Allen Baxter, Jordy Robinson (Haley), Jeremy Robinson, Benjamin Perez (Angie), Breauna Perez, Brittany Martinez (Mingo); 17 great-grandchildren, Abbigail Newton, Holden Newton, Alexus Chumney, John Carter Chumney, Kingston Chumney, Kennedy Chumney, Lily Harrison, Dereck Harrison, Gabriela Hernandez, Javier Romero, Adrian Romero, Noah Martinez, Analisia Martinez, Brody Robinson, Gage Robinson, Brycen Robinson, and Ace Perez.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
