Mr. Billy Woodham Baldwin, a resident of Montgomery, Alabama, passed away Thursday morning, August 23, 2018, at his home. He was eighty-seven years old.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A. M. Saturday, August 25, 2018, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home and Cremations in Ozark with Reverend Rusty Hutson and Reverend Jeff Dickey officiating. Interment will follow in Peniel Baptist Church Cemetery in Skipperville, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home in Ozark Saturday morning from 10:00 A.M. until service time.
Mr. Baldwin was born July 29, 1931 in Dale County, Alabama to the late William Jefferson Baldwin and Jewell V. Woodham Baldwin. His early education was in Echo, Alabama and Dale County High School which was in Ozark, Alabama. In the Fall of 1949, he entered Auburn University (A.P.I.) and after completing one year there he returned home to assist his father on their family farm until December 1954 when he entered the United States Army. Mr. Baldwin served a two-year tour at Fort Shafter in Honolulu, Hawaii working as a Military Policeman. In November of 1956 he returned to Auburn University and finished with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture. In January of 1960 he accepted a job with Armour Agricultural Chemical Company as a salesman for their Columbus, Georgia district office. In 1970 he accepted a job with Riverside Chemical Company in Montgomery, Alabama which was later bought-out by Terra International. He served as Area and Regional Manager until his retirement in August 1996. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers-in-law, Bill Davis and Ted Wallace; and one niece, Alice Wallace.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-three years, Sylvia Stewart Baldwin of Montgomery, Alabama; three daughters, Amy M. Pritchett (Chris) of Tallassee, Alabama, Becky L. Hutson (Rusty) of Auburn, Alabama, Claire L. Dickey (Jeff) of Pike Road, Alabama; one son, William Jeffrey Baldwin (Emmi) of Montgomery, Alabama; ten grandchildren, Lauren and Jacob Pritchett, Michael (Maggie), Wesley and Will Hutson, Bethany, Katie and Phillip Baldwin, Clayton and Arden Dickey; three sisters, Virginia Davis of Georgia, Joann Wallace of South Carolina, Martha Deloney (Jerry) of Troy; several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Kindred Hospice, 7075 Halcyon Park Drive #202, Montgomery, Alabama 36117.
