Bobby Curtis Simmons, Sr., a resident of Dothan, died Thursday, November 18, 2021 at his residence surrounded by his family. He was 77.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
Mr. Simmons was born November 18, 1944 in Elba, Alabama to the late James Curtis and Fannie Allene Mills Simmons. He grew up in Enterprise and graduated from Enterprise High School and Wallace Community College. At 16 he joined the National Guard and later the United States Navy retiring as a CE-1 after 26 years of military service. During his military career he travelled the world with stops in Hawaii, California and Australia. He had a love for old cars and owned and operated a mechanic shop in Geneva.
Mr. Simmons is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Tony Simmons; grandson, Dustin Bourgeois and many extended family.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Roxie Simmons; children, Cydia Simmons, Bobby Curtis Simmons, Jr. (Patricia); grandchildren, Bobby Curtis Simmons, III, Taylor Bourgeois, Dylan Bourgeois, Bradon Ogburn and Deanna Hudson; sister, Loretta Price and Brenda Davis (Rick) and an aunt, Jenelle Cooper along with several nieces and nephews.
