Mr. Bobby Darrell Barrett, of Dothan, passed away Friday, June 22, 2018 after an extended illness. He was 82.
Born February 26, 1936 in Velpen, Indiana to the late Everett and LoaAnn Sullivan Barrett, Bobby was a member of Cloverdale Baptist Church. He served his country in the United States Air Force enlisting after his graduation from Dale High School in Dale, IN in 1954. He retired from the civil service at Ft. Rucker having worked in Radar and Navigational Maintenance. Bobby also enjoyed gardening, woodworking, and puzzles.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, James Barrett; his sisters, Delores Hart and Dorothy Spurlock, all of Indiana; and his brother-in-law, Gerald McKnight, of Dothan.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary Garner Barrett; his sons, Andy Barrett, Dothan and Roger (Kaye) Barrett, Niceville, FL; his grandchildren, Elana (Josh) Barrett Worth, Athens, GA, Reverend David (Katie) Barrett, Annapolis, MD, Mark Barrett, Houston, TX, and Diana Barrett, Troy, AL; his great-grandchildren, Nolan and Hudson Worth and Luke Barrett; his sisters-in-law, Maxine Barrett, New Palestine, IN and Nell McKnight, Dothan; his granddaughter’s mother, Sherry Barrett, Dothan; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Tuesday, June 26, 2018 from the Ward Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Vann Cooley and Reverend David Barrett officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery with Reverend Alan Bryan officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 PM until 2 PM, prior to the service.
