   Mr. Bobby Gene Cordell, a resident of Ewell, passed away Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was 84 years old.


   Funeral services for Mr. Cordell will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, July 27, 2024, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home in Ozark with Reverend Michael Woodham and Reverend Lloyd Helms officiating. Interment will follow in Chalkhead Baptist Church Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing.


   The family will receive friends at the funeral home in Ozark Saturday from 9:30 A.M. until service time.


   Mr. Cordell was born October 8, 1939 in Coffee County, Alabama to the late Walter Mixon Cordell and Estelle Downs Cordell. He attended Carroll High School in Ozark. After graduation, he joined the United States Army and was stationed at Fort Benning, Georgia as an aircraft mechanic. Bobby retired from the Alabama National Guard and later worked with Hayes International, Sikorsky and DynCorp as an aircraft mechanic and Lead Man for over thirty years.


   He Attended Chalkhead Baptist Church in Ewell. He loved his girls, Nina and Kim; his son-in-law, Jeff; his cat, Allie; and hot rods. Bobby was an avid yard-man and kept an immaculate yard. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Herbert “Hub” and Betty Cordell; and one nephew, Mark Cordell.


   Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Nina Jo Willis Cordell; his daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Jeff Byrd; one nephew, Danny Cordell; and a special sister-in-law, Annette Willis all of Ozark. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made in his memory to Chalkhead Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 495 County Road 35, Ozark, Alabama 36360.
