Bobby Gene Keel passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 5, 2023, at the age of 92.

Funeral Services will be held at 12 P.M. Wednesday, February 8, 2023, at Ward Wilson Funeral Home with burial to follow at Dothan City Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Bobby was born in 1930 at Frasier-Ellis Hospital in Dothan, Alabama and attended Dothan High School where he was a letterman in Varsity Baseball, graduating in 1948. After graduation, he continued his love of Dothan High School sports as an avid follower of Tigers Football, later becoming equally passionate about Alabama Crimson Tide Football.

From a young age, he attended Lafayette Street Methodist Church along with his five brothers and sisters and dreamed of becoming a fireman with the Dothan Fire Department. Bobby proudly served two years in the Army at Fort Sill, Oklahoma from 1951 to 1953 before getting married and raising three children. He was a loving father admired by his family for his loyalty, selflessness, honesty, and work ethic. Working very hard well into his eighties, he spent the last 36 years of his career with Palmer Electric Company.

Bobby always had a genuine love for telling stories about his family and what it was like growing up in Dothan. Many hours were spent riding around town with his children, pointing out old landmarks, buildings, and houses, each having an interesting and memorable story. Bobby is best remembered for his love of life and will be dearly missed by his surviving family and many friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Ruby Nolan Johnson and W.C. Johnson; his brother, Charles Ray Keel of Dothan, and sisters, Yvonne Wise of Troy, AL and Joyce LoCascio of Pompano Beach, FL.

He is survived by his brother, Kenneth Johnson of Birmingham, AL; sister, Kaye Jinright of Troy, AL; his three children, Jeffrey Scott Keel (Anna) of Apalachicola, FL, Barry Gene Keel of Tallahassee, FL, and Mary Alyson Mitchell (John) of Montgomery, AL; as well as his five grandchildren, Benjamin Owen Keel, Carson Graye Keel, William Banks Mitchell, Harrison Grant Mitchell, and Jane Lauren Mitchell.

The family would like to sincerely thank Alice, Patrice, and Curtistine for their loving care of Bobby in his final year.
