OZARK…Mr. Bobby J. Childree, a resident of Ozark, died late Sunday morning, June 23, 2024, at his home. He was 72.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, June 26, 2024, in the Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Mike Nicholson officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens. Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mr. Childree was born June 16, 1952, in Ozark, Alabama and was a 1970 Graduate of Carroll High School. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and was a veteran of the Vietnam Era. Mr. Childree also graduated from Wallace College with a degree in Avionics. He retired from Fort Rucker (now Fort Novosel) as an Avionics Technician after thirty years of employment. Mr. Childree was an avid University of Alabama Football Fan, enjoyed golfing, and coached the Cardinal’s Baseball Team in Enterprise. He was a former member of the Post Oak Baptist Church. Mr. Childree was preceded in death by his father, Clarence Oneal Childree and the mother of his children, Sheilah Simmons Childree.
Surviving relatives include his children, Tara Johnson (Bob), Elba, Josh Owens (Amy), Clayhatchee, and Robert Wayne Childree, Red Level, Alabama; mother, Nell Baker Childree, Ozark; three sisters, Margie Weldon, Martha Rogers, both of Ozark, and Myra Perault (Pat), Dothan; a brother, Billy Childree, Ozark; four grandchildren, Blake Johnson, Byron Johnson, Dalton Owens, and Jordan Owens; nieces and nephews, Rodney Carr, Krissy Walker, Scott Rogers, Brent Rogers, Brittany Thorne, Katelyn Faison, and Kyle Clark.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Scott Rogers, Brent Rogers, Joseph Rogers, Blake Johnson, Byron Johnson, Dalton Owens, Paul Faison, Chris Stafford, Jason Walker, and Rodney Carr.
