Mr. Bradford C. Johnson of Freeport, Fla. passed away at his residence on Friday, July 24, 2015.  He was 74.  Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 28, 2015 in the chapel of Pittman Funeral Home in Samson with Rev. Richard Thorn officiating.  Burial will follow in Shady Grove Assembly of God Church Cemetery with Pittman Funeral Home of Samson directing.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, July 27, 2015 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.  Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675.


Mr. Johnson was born in Samson, Ala. on November 3, 1940 to the late Cloise Johnson and Annie Lee Jones Johnson.  At a very young age, he began working in the grocery business.   He worked with Benson Wholesale, Fleming Foods and Piggly Wiggly throughout his career.  After his retirement from Fleming Foods, he later became the proud owner of two grocery stores and a convenience store.  He served his country in the Air National Guard during the Cuban Missile Crisis.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Opal Maloy Johnson.


He is survived by his three daughters, Donna Carter (Bobby), Billie June Bradley (David) of Samson and Janet Caldwell of Freeport; six grandchildren, Justin Bradley (Tina) of Opp, Jason Carter of Samson, Andrew Carter (Kaley) of Geneva, Casondra Churchwell, Bradley Linton (Jenna) and Austin Caldwell, all of Freeport, FL; five great grandchildren, Alyssa and Bryan Carter, Trey Bradley, Audrey Kate Carter and Sadie Grace Churchwell; brother, Winford Johnson (Elaine) of Samson; uncle, Col. Emmett F. Johnson, USAR (Ret.);  special friend, Elzie Duncan of Freeport; and numerous nieces and nephews.
