Mr. Buren Garnet (Sarge) Wambles, a resident of Dothan, died at his home September 27, 2017 following a long illness. He was 65.


 


A memorial service with full masonic rites will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, September 30, 2017 at Tabernacle Methodist Church with Brother Bill Smith and Pastor Lydia Temonia officiating. The family will receive friends at 9:00 AM, one hour prior to the service.


 


In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or Wounded Warrior Project, P. O. box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675-8517.


 


Buren was born in Ozark, AL, son of the late Johnnie Wambles and Frances Powers Wambles. He attended Carroll High School and Troy State University. Buren served his country in the United States Army, retiring in 2009 as a First Sergeant and worked for the Dothan Police Department for 23 years, retiring as Sergeant.


 


He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnnie Wambles and Frances Wambles and a brother, Merril Van Beasley.


 


Surviving relatives include a son, Matthew Wambles (Shelbi), a daughter, Jenny Wambles Hallford (Michael), a step-daughter, Crystal Clark (Bryan), a brother, Tommy Wambles (Barbara), his ex-wife and best friend, Mona Wambles, five grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
