ECHO COMMUNITY…Mr. Carl Wayne “Goat” Gohagan, a resident of the Echo Community, near Ozark, died Sunday afternoon, May 22, 2022, as a result of injuries sustained in a tractor accident at his home. He was 70.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 P.M. Wednesday, May 25, 2022, in Living Water Church in Echo with Reverend Chris Brown officiating. Graveside services, with military honors and Masonic Rites, will be at Barrancas National Cemetery, Pensacola, Florida. Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 4:00 P.M. Wednesday at the church.
Mr. Gohagan, a loving husband, father and son of the late Willie Carl Gohagan and Edna Gayle Cherry Gohagan, was a native of Brundidge. He formerly lived in Samson and Opp before moving to Echo in 2006. Mr. Gohagan was a 1970 Graduate of Opp High School and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Maryland. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War having served in the United States Navy. Mr. Gohagan was a 32nd Degree Mason, a member of the Scottish Rite, and was a member of the Opp Masonic Lodge #605. He was currently employed with M1 Support Services at Fort Rucker as a maintenance supervisor. Mr. Gohagan was preceded in death by four brothers-in-law, Thurston Prince, Thomas Buckner, David Kimbro, and Larry Rivenbark.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Joyce Buckner Gohagan; his children, Faith Ledford (Todd), Chris Gohagan (Mary), Gary Gohagan (Tiffinia), and Erica Proffer (Erica W); grandchildren, Garrett Gohagan, Andsley Gohagan, Wyatt Gohagan, Valerie Gohagan, Taylor Gohagan, John Nolan Gohagan, Mason Ledford, and Macray Ledford; great-grandchildren, Aubrey Teeple, Oakley Gohagan, and Harper Gohagan; three sisters, Billie Sue Rivenbark, Gayle Hausman (Jim), and Lee Ila Kimbro; relatives from the Buckner Family, Vickie Prince and Renee McMenamin (Patrick); nieces and nephews.
