Carlos Earl Hodges, a resident of Cottonwood, died Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at Grand Boulevard Health & Rehab in Miramar Beach, Florida. He was 89.


 


Funeral services for Mr. Hodges will be held at 2 PM Friday, July 31, 2015 at Hodgesville Baptist church with Reverend Mark Bristow officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends beginning at 1 PM prior to the service.


 


Mr. Hodges was born January 23, 1926 in Houston County to the late Arthur Lee and Mary Anna Hodges. He attended Cottonwood High School and later joined the US Army. Following the Army he obtained his GED and graduated from the University of Alabama in three years in 1950. Mr. Hodges was a dance instructor at the Fountaineblu and Palm Beach Hotel. He later moved to Panama City Beach where he owned restaurants, real estate companies and was a general contractor. Mr. Hodges enjoyed the farm living in Cottonwood but also loved living and working at the beach where he resided for 50 years.


 


Survivors include a son, Ryan Hodges (Aprill); two daughters, Nina Freer (John), LeeAnna Hodges, all of Panama City Beach; three grandchildren, Nina Victoria Hodges, Krista Southworth and Shayne Southworth.
