Mr. Cecil Clarence Loftin of Clio, Alabama went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, November 30, 2021. Cecil was born in Arguta, Alabama on November 2, 1923, to T.C. (Jack) and Lallie Loftin. He was the youngest of four children, with three older sisters – Reba, Mary, and Bobbie.  He left school early to help support his family but was still the smartest person most people had ever met and developed several unique creations like his motorized cane mill.

Cecil served in the US Navy during World War II in both the European and Pacific theaters. After his service, Cecil ran a sawmill with his father and he and Juanita farmed with his parents. After buying their own home in Clio, they opened a general store and Cecil started a post treatment company that he ran for over 40 years.  Loftin Post Company drew in customers from all over the tri-state area because of Cecil’s reputation as an honest businessman. At the same time, he ran Loftin Liquid Feed and his and Juanita’s farm with pigs, cows, and beautiful hayfields. He became famous locally for operating a 6-acre community garden where friends and neighbors were welcome to come and help themselves to okra, corn, peas, butterbeans, potatoes, and squash.

Cecil was a faithful member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church.  He was baptized there, and he and Juanita loved the sweet fellowship they found at the church with friends and family.

Cecil is survived by his wife of 77 years, Juanita Evans Loftin; daughters, Linda L. (Bernard) Robinett of Houston, TX, Jill L. (Michael) Patterson of Dothan, AL; grandchildren William L. (Bill) Robinett, C. Michelle Patterson, Suzanne R. (Carlos) Buchanan, Joshua M. (Rachel) Patterson, Jennifer L. (Kyle) Wilson, Jason M. Patterson; great grandchildren, Jessica D. (Robert) Moore, Carlos E. Buchanan III, Aryana L. Buchanan, Alice E. Wilson,; great great grandchildren, Autumn J. Moore, Marissa L. Moore, Corbin M. Moore, and many beloved and cherished friends.  Cecil was preceded in death by his and Juanita’s infant son and his great grandson Brent L. Robinett.

Pallbearers are Jason Patterson, Joshua Patterson, Kyle Wilson, Carlos Buchanan, Bill Robinett and Robert Moore.  Honorary pallbearers are Brent Smith and Terrell Smith.

Services will be held Saturday, December 4, 2021, at 11:00 am at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church, 5320 County Road 15, Ozark, Alabama 36360. Graveside will follow immediately after the service.  Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in memory of Cecil Loftin to Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church for their cemetery fund.
