Charles W. (Chuck) Lybrand of Dothan passed away Thursday, October 28, 2021 at the age of 82
Chuck was born on August 23, 1939 in Sylacauga, Alabama. A graduate from Sylacauga High School and Auburn University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree. Chuck continued his education, earning a Master of Business Administration from the University of North Florida.
He served in the United States Army, starting with ROTC at Auburn University in 1962, and then active duty from 1968 until 1976. He served two tours in Vietnam and completed his service in the Army Reserves. Chuck retired at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
After leaving active duty in the Army, Chuck worked in Logistics Management for the Department of Defense. He retired from civil service in 1999.
Chuck is preceded in death by his parents, Willie O and Minnie Idell Lybrand; siblings, William Earl Lybrand, Charlotte Lybrand Baxley, James Leonard (Luke) Lybrand, Sarah Lybrand Pitts, and great-grandchild, Clark William Shultz.
Survivors include his wife, Janice Nix Lybrand from Dothan, Alabama; daughter, Lydia Lybrand Griffy from Chapel Hill, Tennessee (Mark); son, Mark Charles Lybrand (Patricia) from Olympia, Washington; grandchildren, Robert Geoffrey Schultz (Sabrina) from Austin, Lindsay Schultz Vandever (Christian) from Spring Hill, TN, Sabastian Lybrand and Camila Lybrand; great-grandchildren, Theodore James Vandever and Jackson Oliver Schultz
Burial date to be determined at Arlington Cemetery in Virginia.
