Charles Edward McCall, known affectionately as Chuck to his friends and family, passed away unexpectedly on June 19, 2024, at the age of 67 in Columbus, Georgia. Born on March 23, 1957, in Dothan, Alabama, Chuck was a man whose laughter and generosity enriched the lives of those around him.

Chuck is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Sharon Tew McCall, who was his partner in every aspect of life. He was a devoted stepfather to Justin Lisenby and his wife Traci, and a doting grandfather to Kaden, Cooper, and Sebastian Lisenby. His father, Kenneth Arthur McCall, will miss the deep conversations and the shared moments that only a father and son can appreciate. Though his mother, Peggy Oneal Hoffman Strickland, predeceased him, her memory and spirit lived on through Chuck’s actions and kind heart.

He also leaves behind his caring sisters, Peggy McCall Frost and her husband Kevin, and Amanda McCall Mock and her husband Ken and his brother, Kenneth Michael McCall and his wife Martha. His brother-in-law, Michael Smith, along with his nieces and nephews—Scott, Adam, Elliott, Elizabeth, Kacie, Karlee, and Damion—will fondly remember Chuck's playful teasing and the warmth of his presence. His lifelong friend, Bruce Leverett, will cherish the countless memories they made together over the years.

Chuck was a man of faith and fellowship, a long-time member of Rehobeth Baptist Church, where he found solace and joy in the community and spiritual guidance. His interests were as varied as they were passionate. An avid fan of sports cars, he could often be found at car shows or working on restoring his prized 1969 Nova. Fishing was more than a hobby for Chuck; it was a way to connect with nature and enjoy the simple pleasures of life.

A true Alabama football fan, Chuck enjoyed watching the games and his enthusiasm was contagious. His love for the game was only matched by the love he had for his family and friends. Chuck’s sense of humor was legendary, and his ability to make others laugh was a gift he generously shared.

Those who knew Chuck would describe him as loving, funny, and generous. He had a knack for making everyone feel special and valued. His presence could light up a room, and his absence will leave a void that cannot be filled.

Chuck’s life was a testament to the power of love, the joy of laughter, and the importance of family. He will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him, but his legacy of kindness and compassion will live on in the hearts of his loved and cherished ones.

Funeral services will be held at 1 PM, Tuesday, June 25, 2024 from the chapel of Ward Wilson Funeral Home with Reverend Chad Hixson officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 12 PM until 1 PM, Tuesday, June 25, 2024 prior to the service at the funeral home.
