Mr. Charles Flippo
Mr. Charles Flippo of Fadette passed away Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at Medical West Hospital in Bessemer. He was 76.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 28 at Slocomb First Baptist Church with Rev. Dan Raley officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory of Slocomb directing.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the West Florida Teen Challenge Center, 1213 Hope Circle, Bonifay, FL 32425.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m.
Charles was born on December 18, 1936 in Houston County to the late William Glenn Flippo and Addie Elizabeth Creel Flippo Lytle. A faithful Christian, Charles was a member of Slocomb First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and the FOM Sunday school teacher for over thirty years. In addition to being a loving husband, father and grandfather, Charles was an avid fisherman and Alabama Football fan.
In addition to his parents, one sister, Ann Goulet preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Peggy Gray Flippo, Fadette; one daughter, Melinda Lea Flippo Everitt (Danny), McCalla; three sons: Charles Braderick Flippo (Glenda), Fountain, FL, Wesley Allen Flippo (Nita), Robertsdale and Kristopher Wayne Flippo (Joyce), Fadette; one brother, Larry Glenn Flippo (Eleanor), Dothan; twelve grandchildren; three great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and other extended family and friends.
