Obituary from Holman Funeral Home of Ozark – Ozark, Alabama
Mr. Charles Merrell Littlejohn, a resident of Enterprise, passed away Saturday, June 1, 2024, at his home surrounded by his family. He was 81 years old.
A memorial service for Mr. Littlejohn will be held 2:00 P.M. Friday, June 7, 2024, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home in Ozark. Full Military Honors will be presented following the service. Interment will be in Fort Mitchell National Veterans Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home in Ozark Friday from 1:00 P.M. until service time.
Mr. Littlejohn was born August 5, 1942 in LaFayette, Georgia to the late Charlie Oscar Littlejohn and Sarah Loraine Day Littlejohn. He attended Menlo High School in Menlo, Georgia. Mr. Littlejohn joined the United States Army in 1959 at Fort Jackson, South Carolina and trained at Fort Bragg with the 82nd Airborne. He was stationed at Fort Rucker for aircraft mechanic training. With two tours in Vietnam, he retired in 1980. Following his military service, he worked with DynCorp, Boeing, McDonald Douglas and retired from Sikorsky in 2007. He moved back to LaFayette, Georgia to spend time with family and worked as a substitute teacher. Mr. Littlejohn moved to Enterprise, Alabama in 2019 where he continued substitute teaching at Alabama Aviation and Technical College, Carroll High School and D. A. Smith Middle School. He enjoyed scuba diving and was a Master Dive Instructor in The Red Sea. He also loved to read, enjoyed woodworking, fishing and was an avid Georgia Bulldog, Atlanta Braves and Atlanta Falcons fan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his great granddaughter, Cami Renee Jones.
Mr. Littlejohn is survived by his wife of 64 years, Marjorie Jean Swanson Littlejohn of Enterprise; two daughters, Merri Lewis (Keith) of Enterprise and Kristia Kitkowski (Ronald) of Newton; three sons, Joe Littlejohn (Teresa) of Enterprise, Charles Laddie Littlejohn (Sylinda) of Enterprise and Mark Randall Littlejohn (MaryAnn) of Dothan; two sisters, Sharon Brown (Roy) of Trion, Georgia and Debbie Cordell (Gary) of LaFayette, Georgia; brother-in-law, David Swanson (Joy) of LaFayette, Georgia. Twelve grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren also survive.
The family would like to express a special “thank you” to Gentiva Hospice.
