The family will receive friends at the funeral home in Ozark Thursday from 9:00 A.M. until service time.
Mr. Campbell was born August 11, 1946 in Clio, Alabama to the late Ellis Milton Campbell and Thelma Tharpe Campbell. He lived most of his life in the Clio and Blue Springs areas. He went to school in Clio and left school in the 9th grade to help his dad with farming. His dad was a sharecropper and that was a full-family occupation. He worked in the fields most of his childhood with his father and helped with all he could until he was grown. He worked with the state of Alabama for a while and he worked as a plumber with different contractors and with his brother, Billy. His brother Billy was the electrician and he was the plumber. He started working with Phillips Van Heusen in 1973 at the Clayton, Alabama plant which is where he met his wife, Audrey Ann Morrison. They were married May 9, 1983 and lived in Clio until 1994 when they moved to Skipperville. After the Clayton plant closed he worked briefly at the Ozark plant until he was awarded his Social Security disability in the late 90s. Since then he lived on county road 19 watching his children and grandchildren grow up. Most of his stories were of his love for hunting or fishing. He loved a good fish fry or a barbeque.
He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a hard worker and would give the shirt off his back for both his family and strangers alike.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Annette Shirah and Doris Robinson; and four brothers, Billy Campbell, Sam Cooper, James Cooper and Al Cooper.
He is survived by his wife, Audrey Morrison Campbell; one daughter, Lisa Seibert (Josh); and two sons, Charles Campbell Jr. (Amy) and Adam Campbell (Megan); four sisters, Cathryn Cox, Martha Mooney, Wanda Mancil and Becky Dansby; two brothers, Tim Cooper and Ronnie Cooper; grandchildren, Ben, Caleb, Jacob, Eli (Charles and Amy) Tate, Shelby Kate, Ruby Layne (Adam and Megan) Allie and Charli (Lisa and Josh).
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his memory to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Attn; Tribute Department, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
