Mr. Clair Donald Peterson, Jr., age 71, a resident of Level Plains, died early Tuesday February 2, 2016 at his residence after an extended illness.


Graveside services with Full Military Honors will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday February 4, 2016 at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery (Hwy. 431 North) with Brother Donald Peterson officiating and Kendall Glover directing.


The family requests in lieu of flowers that memorial contributions be made to the American Lung Association, (COPD Research) www.lung.org


Mr. Peterson was born on March 13, 1944 in Ottawa, Illinois the son of Clair Donald Peterson, Sr. and Florence DeZain Peterson.  He was a graduate of Ottawa High School and retired after 21 years of service from the U.S. Army as a E-7 and was a Vietnam Veteran.  Mr. Peterson was also retired as a contractor at Ft. Rucker, he was a lifetime member of the DAV in Enterprise.


He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Diana Peterson Smith; brother, Terry Peterson; stepson, Timothy J. Bruso and a grandson, Brandon S. Bruso.


He is survived by wife of 36 years, Elmira Peterson, Level Plains; son, Clair Donald Peterson, III (Christy), Wedowee; 2 step-daughters, Tammy Fortner (George), Enterprise; Angela Scrimpsher, Level Plains; step-son, Glen Bruso, Jr. (Bridget); a sister, Lillian Worthan (Tim), Portland, Oregon; several grandchildren and great grandchildren.


Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Enterprise DAV.


 Glover Funeral Home of Dothan has been entrusted with the arrangements.
