Mr. Claud Leonard Planchon, of Dothan, passed away Friday, December 21, 2018. He was 81.
Born October 19, 1937 in Monett, Missouri, Claud worked on the railroad right out of high school. He served his country in the United States Army and worked as an electrical engineer at the Panama Canal. After retiring from the civil service, Claud raised cattle and will be remembered for his love of telling stories of his railroad and Panama Canal days. He was a member of Tabernacle United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents, Claud was preceded in death by his wife, Lena Irene Planchon; his daughter, Tammi Suzanne Planchon; and his son, Harold William “Bud” Planchon.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Reddington Planchon; his son, John Lee Planchon; his daughter, Toni Lynn Mott; his grandchildren, Samantha Hale, Stephanie Nichole Nidiffer, Zachary Shane Logan, Rachel Lynn Mott, Olivia Kathrine Planchon; his great-grandchildren, Raiden Kyle Hale and Peyton Landon Hale; numerous other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM, Thursday, December 27, 2018 from the Ward Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Lydia Temonia officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends from 1:30 until 2:30 PM, Thursday, December 27, 2018, prior to the service.
