NEWTON… Mr. Clint Waltz, a resident of Newton, died Friday afternoon, October 13, 2023, as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Greenville, Alabama. He was 48.

Clint Waltz- aka, the better parent- a man of stubborn grit, staunch beliefs, and infectious passion for everything sports, ocean, and space- with a hint of Jimmy Buffett.

In his short lifetime, Clint went through more than a fair share of human hardship (the man was virtually indestructible) and came out the other side an amazingly well-rounded human being. He was a devoted daddy, who passed on to his kids his love for the Tottenham Hotspurs, Formula 1 racing and Mother Nature (especially cats), his knack for intellectual debate, and his razor-sharp sense of humor. Though selective in his relationships, Clint was also a forgiving husband, a loving son and brother, the fun uncle, a stunning intellectual, and a loyal teammate and friend.

Once he had the upper hand on the pain that was his life’s companion, Clint wasted little time. He took a course in astronomy, built and launched rockets, discovered parasports, resumed work on his Sports Finance PhD and assistantship, played with his kids. Along the way this charming introvert inadvertently ensured he would be deeply missed by so, so many. A strictly non-religious man who mocked his wife’s superstitious nature, Clint’s final joke of parting with our realm on Friday the 13th is not lost on us at all. We wag our finger at this irony and chuckle through tears as we prepare ourselves for our final good-byes.

Respecting his wishes, Clint’s final send-off will be quiet and private. Please honor his memory by taking a moment to recall his spirit, honesty, and sense of humor. He wanted nothing more in life than to be heard and understood by those he loved.

Clint is survived by his wife and children, Milena, Elise and Maya; his parents, Martha and Greg; sister, Shannon and husband, Andy; nephews, Drew, Cole, and Sean, as well as numerous other loving family members (and his cats, Cecil and Jordie).

If you would like to make a gesture in his memory, please consider planting a tree.
