Mr. Collis “Buddy” Franklin Barber, Jr., age 80, a resident of Dothan, died early Sunday, March 6, 2022, at Flowers Hospital.
Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. Friday, March 11, 2022, at the Glover Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend’s Dwayne Baird and Scott Cox officiating. Burial will follow in the Ashford City Cemetery with Glover Funeral Home directing.
The family will be receiving friends from 1 p.m. until 2:15 p.m. Friday prior to services at the Glover Funeral Home Chapel. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Bay Springs Baptist Church Building Fund, 1721 S. Bay Springs Rd., Dothan, AL. 36305.
Mr. Barber was born on January 5, 1942, in Ashford the son of Collis Franklin Barber, Sr., and Olna Williams Barber. He was a 1960 Graduate of Ashford High School where he was a member of the football team. Buddy owned and operated Buddy’s Barber Shop in Dothan for 40 years and served 13 years in the Alabama National Guard. He was a member of Bay Springs Baptist Church and loved Alabama football.
He was preceded in death by his parents; infant sister and sister Barbara Jean Gresham.
Survivors include his wife, Marjorie Ann Barber, Dothan; 2 daughters, Jennifer Benak (Mike), Dothan; Teresa Carol Cooley; 6 grandchildren, Drew Stone, Mathew Stone, Jessica Hall, Michael Benak(Sarah), Caroline Benak, and Anna Kathryn Benak; 2 great-grandchildren, Jackson, and Olivia Benak; 3 step-sons, David Lee, Damon Lee (Joanna), Doug Lee (Katherine) all of Wamego, Kansas; sister, Mary Deese (Wayne), Dothan; sister-in-law, Veleria Thomley, Hartford; several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be: Doug Gresham, Michael Benak, Mathew Stone, Butch Drew, Clay Thomley, and Colby Thomley.
