Harold Daniel “Danny” Fulford, 70, of Hartford, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, December 29, 2014, at his home while surrounded by family. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, January 3, 2014 at Shiloh Baptist Church with Brothers Gary Waddell, Mac McMicken, and Scott Fulford officiating. Interment will follow at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church with Pittman Funeral Home of Geneva directing. The family will receive friends on Friday, January 2, 2014 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Shiloh Baptist Church, in Hartford, AL.

Danny was born on May 13, 1944 in Geneva County, Alabama. He was the youngest of three children belonging to Hershel and Willie Dell Fulford. Danny graduated from Geneva County High School in 1962, after which he walked on the football team at Auburn University where he received an athletic scholarship to play tight end for the Tigers under the legendary Coach Ralph “Shug” Jordan while earning a bachelor’s degree in agribusiness. Danny was drafted 78th overall in the 1966 NFL draft and in the second round of the AFL redshirt draft the same year, but elected not to play football, instead returning home to Hartford to raise his family. In 1974, he opened United Country Fulford Realty in Hartford and later received several awards for having one of the top ten sales rates of offices across the nation. Danny attended Harvest Church in Dothan. Along with enjoying a life-long love of football, he also loved to play golf, mostly for the company of his loyal golfing buddies. A devoted Christian, Danny was known for his honesty, loyalty, and generosity. Ever willing to help others, he was a strong supporter of Wiregrass Children's Home in Dothan and helped many others in the area in their time of need. Danny was a loving father, grandfather, husband, and friend, leaving a legacy his family and friends will forever celebrate.

Danny was preceded in death by his father Hershel Fulford and mother Willie Dell Fulford. Danny is survived by his wife, Diane Schendel Fulford; four children: Anderson (Nicole) Fulford of Hartford, Alabama, Amee Fulford of Purcell, Oklahoma, Laura (Jon) Chase of Auburn, Alabama, and Ross (Amber) Fulford of Opelika, Alabama; two step children: Troy (Tabitha) Enfinger of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Trey (Tina) Enfinger of Hartford, Alabama; nine grandchildren and one due in April; one brother, Bruce Fulford of Hartford, Alabama; one sister, Willa (Louie) Parrish of Sparta, Tennessee. The pallbearers will be Doug Ward, Paul Ketchem, Charlie Conner, Taze Fulford, Jack Hughes, and Robert Earl Skinner. The family would like to extend a heart-felt thank you to Dr. Scott McAllister and the staff of Dothan Hematology and Oncology, as well as Gentiva Hospice and Home Health for their excellent care and genuine concern. In lieu of flowers, the family requests instead that donations be made to Wiregrass Children's Home, P.O. Box 6813, Dothan, AL 36302 in honor of Danny Fulford.
