OZARK… Mr. Darrell Gene Mentink, Sr., a resident of Ozark, died early Tuesday evening, May 2, 2023, in the emergency room of a Dothan hospital. He was 77.


            Graveside services will be held at a later date in West Lawn Memorial Park, Sturtevant, Wisconsin. Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark is in charge of local arrangements.


            Mr. Mentink, son of the late Loyal W. Mentink and June Stacy Mentink, was born October 4, 1945, in Racine, Wisconsin. He was retired from Marion Cheese Factory, was a volunteer fireman with the Sturtevant Volunteer Fire Department, and custodian with the Racine Unified School District.  Mr. Mentink was a veteran of the Vietnam War having served in the United States Navy. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, spending time with his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and loved animals especially his special k-9, “Shaggers”.  Mr. Mentink was preceded in death by his wife, Judy L. Mentink; a son, Darrell G. “Butch” Mentink, Jr. and brothers, Wayne Mentink (Donna), Dale “Hap” Mentink (Sally), and Reverend Lee Mentink (Eleanor).


            Surviving relatives include his daughters, Stacy Young (Jeff) and Lisa Siltala, and Judy Jones (Steve); a step-son, Jeremy Osborne; grandchildren, Timothy Brown (Ashley), Sara Ivanoksi (Jake), Stephanie Siltala (David), Jonathan DeBlare (Ashley), Alycia Cox (Steven), Andrew Valadez, Michael Valadez, Steven McIntosh, Jason McIntosh, Malachi Matz, and McGregor Matz; brother, Earl Klema (Carolyn); many special great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and special friend, Jackie Turzinski.
