Obituary: Mr. David Keith Hartzog
Mr. David Keith Hartzog left his earthly body and his spirit went to be with the father, Thursday, February 10, 2022 at his home in Dothan. He was 69.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 14, 2022 in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home in Slocomb with Pastor Bobby Marks officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday beginning at 10:00 a.m. and continuing until service time.
In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to Wiregrass Humane Society, 255 Jerry Drive, Dothan, AL 36303.
Keith was born February 7, 1953 in Hartford, AL to the late Paul Junior Hartzog and Jeanette Gilley Hartzog Bowden and spent most of his adult life in the Hartford and Wicksburg area. He was a used auto salesman, owning K&D motors, by trade, but an entrepreneur and mechanic by heart. He never met a stranger or someone whom he could not strike up a conversation with whether he agreed with them or not. Keith was an avid Alabama fan but his biggest love was for his heavenly father and his family.
In addition to his parents, grandparents: George W. and Daisy Thomley Hartzog; three brothers: Kenneth and Paul Hartzog, and Greg Bowden; mother of his son, Sue Barbrey, all preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Paula Hartzog; son: David Hartzog (Amy), Opelika, AL, bonus son, Christopher Chapman, Atlanta, GA; stepsons: Gerald Henderson, Jr., Dothan, Eli Henderson (Sophie), and Caleb Henderson both of Birmingham, grandchildren: Ann Katherine Lovin, (Jacob), Gunnar Hartzog, Gray Hartzog, Audrey Hartzog, Madalyn and Austin Henderson, and Annalee and Charleigh Henderson; sister, Sherry Fillingim (Andy); several nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.
The family would like to thank his caregiver, Brooke, Southern Hospice and nurse Sam for the compassion that was shown to Keith and family.
