Mr. David Rabon, age 85, went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, January 31, 2021, while surrounded by his family.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, February 3, 2021, at Crossroads Baptist Church, with Pastor Tim Rabon and Pastor Doug MacCormack officiating. Burial with Dothan Fire Department Honors will follow at Cowarts Creek Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery with Glover Funeral Home directing.
The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Tuesday, February 2, 2021, at Crossroads Baptist Church. Social distancing and masking guidelines will be observed. The family will accept flowers, or contributions may be made to Crossroads Baptist Church Bus Ministry, 2574 Westgate Parkway, Dothan, AL 36303.
Mr. Rabon was born June 7, 1935, in Ashford to Wright Coxwell and Bera Johnson Rabon, the youngest of nine children. He grew up on the family farm and was a 1953 graduate of Ashford High School. He was a retired Captain at the Dothan Fire Department where he worked from 1966-1986. He also worked with Twitchell and ETI for several years. Mr. Rabon was a member of the Cottonwood Booster Club, the Cottonwood Senior Center, and Crossroads Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He will be remembered as a loving husband, daddy, granddaddy (Gan-Gan), and great-granddaddy.
Mr. Rabon is predeceased by his parents, five brothers, and three sisters.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Patricia Fowler Rabon of Dothan; son, Tim Rabon (Sharon) of Raleigh, NC; daughter, Gail Bedsole of Dothan; sister-in-law, Ethel Rabon of Dothan; five grandchildren, Brittney Lewis (John), Tim Rabon Jr. (Laura), Philip Rabon (Nichole), Jordan Perdue (Keith), Joy Edmonds (Chris); thirteen great-grandchildren, Micah Lewis, Harrison Lewis, Carter Wells, Anna Perdue, Riley Rabon, Owen Rabon, Aubrey Rabon, Landon Edmonds, Connor Rabon, Selah Rabon, Brody Perdue, Braelynn Edmonds, Bryson Edmonds; numerous nieces and nephews.
