Dean Averill, 54, from Dothan, Alabama, passed away peacefully with his sister by his side at Bonifay Nursing and Rehabilitation in Bonifay, Florida on Thursday, September 10, 2015.
Dean was born in Richland, Washington. He graduated from Northview High School in 1979 before attending Wallace Community College and graduating with a degree in welding. He loved wood working and restoring cars alongside his dad. He enjoyed his travels around the United States with his parents.
I asked friends and family to describe Dean with one word and these are the responses: genuine, selfless, free spirited, witty, ornery, humorous, sarcastic, determined, tough, sharp, clever, and a flirt! He was loved by so many and he touched many lives along the way.
Dean was preceded in death by his parents Floyd and Theresa Averill; a brother, Les Averill; a niece Brigitta Averill; and a brother in law Joel Cooley.
Survivors include a brother, Paul (Vicky) Averill, Lacrosse, WI; two sisters, Julie (Tim) Bigham, Dothan, AL, and Gail Cooley, Hanford, CA; many cousins, nieces, and great nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at a later undetermined date. Memorial contributions may be made to any animal shelter or humane society of your choice, or to Bonifay Nursing and Rehabilitation 306 West Brock Avenue Bonifay, Florida 32425. Dean’s mom contributed greatly at the holidays and we would love for this to continue.
