Mr. D.J. Norris of Gaskin, FL went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 10, 2011. He was 81. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 13, 2011 in the chapel of Pittman Funeral Home with his brother Rev. Tommy Norris officiating. Burial will follow in Corner Creek Cemetery with Pittman Funeral Home of Samson directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday, November 12, 2011 from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m.

Mr. Norris was born in Hacoda, AL on January 29, 1930 to the late William Daniel and Lessie Jackson Norris. Mr. Norris loved to farm, fish and work in his garden. He loved his family and having big dinners outside. He also enjoyed talking to people. Mr. Norris was preceded in death by four brothers, James Norris, Edward Norris, Randall Norris and Gerold Norris; three sisters, Dorthy Norris, Ruby May and Ruth Creech.

He is survived by three brothers, Franklin “Tommy” Norris (Carolyn) of Nauvoo, AL, Quitman Norris (Jane Ann) of Gaskin, FL and Dewayne Norris of Kinston, AL; numerous nieces and nephews.
