Doug Turner, age 86, of Birmingham, formerly of Dothan, passed away Wednesday, October 24, 2018 in Birmingham.
Born December 22, 1931 in Henry County, Alabama to the late Huey B. Turner and Myrtis Heath Turner, Doug served his country in the United States Army in the Korean War. He worked at Dothan Crown and Bridge for over 40 years and enjoyed fishing, golfing, music, history and playing cards in his spare time. He will be remembered as a loving father and an amazing husband.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary McEntyre Turner; and his sister, Margaret Lindsey.
Doug is survived by his son, Darren (Tami) Turner of Birmingham; a sister, Donna Eldridge of Fayetteville, NC; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Saturday, October 27, 2018 from the Ward Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Chuck Locke officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 12 PM until 2 PM, prior to the service.
