Obituary: Mr. Doyle Ray Hatfield


 



Mr. Doyle Ray Hatfield of Waverly Hall, GA passed away Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was 71.


 A Memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. CST on Sunday, September 17, 2023 in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home in Slocomb. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday beginning at 1:00 p.m. CST and continue until service time.


In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to Columbus Scottish Rite Bodies P. O. Box 727, Columbus GA 31902-0727, (Checks made payable to Scottish Rite Foundation of GA) in memory of Mr. Hatfield.


Mr. Hatfield was born August 24, 1952 to the late Doyle T. and Lillie Sampley Hatfield. Doyle Hatfield was most described as a seemingly invincible man that was always willing and able to help anyone who crossed his path. He was known for his big heart, card playing, quick wit and sense of humor. Mr. Hatfield was dedicated in his time for the last 38 years in various positions in the Blue Lodge, Scottish Rite, and York Rite as well as spending time with his children, grandchildren and traveling with his wife.  


In addition to his parents, sister, Catia Hvarven; three brothers: Tommy Hatfield, David Hatfield, and Gary Hatfield, all preceded him in death.


Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Lynne Hatfield; three daughters: Starla Taylor, Wendy McDaniel (Larry), and Dusty Townsend (Todd); two sons: Jeffrey Swift (Ashlee), and Gary Hatfield (Heather); 10 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; siblings: Ted Hatfield (Sharon), Sara Schmittendorf (Jim), Louise Sheffield (Larry), Kenny Hatfield (Maelynn), Gail Meadows, Jeff Hatfield (Corrine), Martha Vickers (Gary), and Sandra Moody; numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.
