Dwight E. Benge, resident of Tulsa, OK passed away peacefully on April 29, 2020 at the age of 90 years old.


Dwight is survived by his beloved wife of 41 years, Lynda F. Benge living in Tulsa, OK; his 5 children: Blake Benge (Beverly), living in Pensacola, FL, Stacy Johnsen (Jonathan) living in Tulsa, OK, Matthew Benge (Cassie) living in Nashville, TN, Shannon Burcham (Jerome) living in Greensboro, NC and Shellie Nix (Matthew) living in Brunswick, MD; and his 15 grandchildren: Ashton Benge, Joshua Johnsen, Allyson Burcham, Ashley Johnsen, Grace Burcham, Zacharias Johnsen, Olivia Burcham, Trent Benge, Emily Johnsen, Elliana Nix, Carsen Benge, Lilly Nix, Matthew Nix, Jr., John Nix & Joseph Nix; and his younger sister Betty Crosen living in Chicage, IL, and younger brother Deanie Benge living in Jackson, MS.


Dwight was born in Bedford, Indiana on November 11, 1929 to Edgar and Helen Benge (deceased). He had 3 brothers and 1 sister. He joined the U.S. Navy upon high school graduation where he was stationed in san Diego, CA. He moved to Memphis, TN after his service and married Faye Armstrong Benge of Alabama (deceased). They had 2 sons (Blake and Matthew) and 1 daughter (Dana-deceased). He married Lynda Fuqua Benge in 1979 and inherited 3 daughters (Stacy, Shannon & Shellie). Dwight was the CFO at GFA Trucking Corporation for most of his adult life in Dothan, AL. The family moved to Tulsa, OK in 1993 where he most recently resided. He went on to graduate from Victory Bible Institute in 1998. Dwight became Vice President of Seed Sowers International which helped support missionaries across the globe which was a passion of his.


Dwight was a devoted husband, father, brother, & uncle. He enjoyed writing poems. He was an avid movie connoisseur and cultivated that love with family and friends over the years. This led to a movie collection of over 1500 movies. Dwight also enjoyed music of all kinds. His favorite artists included Neil Diamond, Barry Manilow, Frank Sinatra and Righteous Brothers just to name a few.


A funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, July 18, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Ward Wilson Funeral Home in Dothan, AL. Blake Benge will officiate the ceremony. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to Seed Sowers International, 7434 E. 83rd  Place, Tulsa, OK 74133.
