Mr. Evans was born October 5, 1939 near Clio, Alabama to the late Emmett and Velar Evans. For most of his life he worked in the timber business with his father and brothers, then for many years he operated his own timber business.

Earl was an avid fisherman. He spent countless hours on the water and had vivid stories of his catches and adventures. He was well-known for his ability to bring home a bountiful catch or the “Big One”. Earl was a great fan of Alabama football, loving to attend games when he could and never missing a game on television.

He also loved to garden and share his harvest with friends and neighbors. He was such a “people person” who never met a stranger.

Left to cherish his memories are his beloved wife of 63 years, Inez Gulledge Evans; sisters, Sara Woodard Overstreet (Joe), Jeanette Baker, and Kay Robertson. He is also survived by one precious aunt, Flora Evans Aldape; numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and his faithful dog, Susie.

Other than his parents, Earl is preceded in death by his siblings, Etha B. Doster, Joyce Wright, Shirley Hyatt, Gerald Evans, Doug Evans, and Melvin Evans.

The family would like to thank Dr. Scott McAllister and two special caregivers, Sharon day and Misty McKenzie for their loving care and kindness given to Earl during his sickness.
