Richard Edward “Ed” Wonders of Geneva passed away at Campbellton-Graceville Hospital on Wednesday, December 31, 2014 after an extended illness. He was 77. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 4, 2015 in the chapel of Pittman Funeral Home in Geneva with Rev. James Endrihs officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Pittman Funeral Home of Geneva directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, January 3, 2015 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m.
Mr. Wonders was born in Falls Mills, Va. on May 1, 1937 to the late Charles Burdett Wonders and Bertha Mae Kinder Wonders. He was a member of Christ The King Lutheran Church in Enterprise. He was a member of the US Navy for fourteen years and six months. He was a member of the Disabled Veterans Association. Prior to his retirement, Mr. Wonders worked as a diesel mechanic for many years. A son, Bradley Edward Wonders, preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Dean Wonders; stepdaughter, Linda DeFord (Rick), all of Geneva; step-son, Henry Dean Myers (Lena) of Jacksonville, Fla.; three grandchildren, Jamie Lyn Jameson (Joe) of Hawaii, Christopher Dean Myers (Cara) and Shelly Orozco, both of Jacksonville, Fla.; two great grandchildren, Camden Myers and Jessie Orozco; and a sister, Delma Taylor (Bruce) of Virginia.
