Elmer “Wyatt” L. Earp, 85, passed away on Monday, December 15, 2014 at Seacoast Medical Center in Little River, SC.
He was born in Durham County, NC to the late Charles Clifford Earp and Mollie Landon Earp.
He was proceeded in death by his wives Lois Marilyn Spears, Dorothy Carol Terry, and Eleanor Pearl Simpler; sisters, Margaret Weaver, Roberta Hamlett, Alice Duke; brothers, Billy Earp and Bernice Earp.
He is survived by his son, Charles Dupre; daughter-in-law, Seeju Dupree; two grandchildren, Drieux and Devon; sister, Dolly Wilkerson; brother, Joe Earp; nieces and nephews; and many many friends.
Elmer served in the US Air Force for twenty years and attained the rank of Technical Sergeant. During his career he served in Korea and Vietnam. He was a member of the Air Force Sergeants Association Chapter 469A Dothan, AL, Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary Unit 87 Dothan AL, B-47 Stratojet Association, American Legion, VFW, and Elks Lodge. He took great pride in choosing a career that provided an opportunity to render honorable and patriotic service to his country.
He was also a charter member of the Harvest United Methodist Church and Covenant United Methodist Church in Dothan, AL.
Elmer was a sweet and gentle soul who found great pleasure in helping others. He was dearly loved and will be missed by all those who were blessed to have known him.
A military service will be held at Arlington National cemetery in addition to a memorial service in Dothan, Alabama, both to be announced at a later date.
