Emmett Lathan Dean, a resident of Midland City, passed away on Friday, March 6, 2020. He was 80.
Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Sunday, March 8, 2020 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 1-2 pm.
Mr. Dean was born on January 30, 1940 in Houston County, in the Jellico Community and attended Wicksburg High School. He was married to Louise Dowling Dean in 1963. Mr. Dean farmed for a time and was employed with Sunnyland Packing Company until 1985. He would work with Houston Paper from 1985 until 2006 and with Lewis Smith from 2006 until his retirement in 2015. He was humble and kindhearted and a very devout Christian man. Mr. Dean was a member of Pansey Church of Christ and later a member of Hartford Highway Church of Christ.
Mr. Dean was preceded in death by his wife, Ella Louise Dean and by his daughter, Paula R. Spradley.
Survivors include his son, Phillip (Cristi) Dean; his grandchildren, Dylan Dean, Hanna Dean, Benjamin (Kaylee) Spradley, Brooke (Noah) Deering, and Laura Ruth Spradley; his great-grandchild, Adalynn Dean; and several nieces and nephews.
