Mr. Euell Lee Dobbs, Jr., age 83, of Dothan passed away Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at his residence.
Born February 22, 1934 in Alabama to the late Euell Lee Dobbs Sr. and May Dee Crawford, Mr. Dobbs member Greystone United Methodist Church, and was a lifetime member of the Dothan VFW. He served his country in the Navy, and was inducted in both the Barbeque Hall of Fame and Softball Hall of Fame Mr. Dobbs was an avid hunter and fisherman. Mr. Dobbs was known for being the only operator of the “Hooie Sooie Stick”, who he enjoyed showing to everyone that came in those doors at Dobb’s. He loved his children, and grandchildren, but most of all everyone who came in to sit down and eat at Dobbs BBQ he welcomed them with love, and stories.
In addition to his parents, Euell was preceded in death by his daughter, Jenna Dobbs Heney; brothers, Charles Jack Dobbs, Dr. J.W. Dobbs, and Morris L. Dobbs.
Mr. Lee is survived by his daughter, Jan Dobbs Turner (Allen); son, Euell Lee Dobbs, III (Karol); grandchildren, Katie Turner, Will Turner (Jackie), Harrison Turner, Gabriel and Christopher Dobbs, Zack Miles; sister, Martha Seay; and many more nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews who loved him dearly; General Managers and special friends, Jon Lindley, and Arthur Mayo; special friend/caregiver, Ann Ockmand. A special thank you to Alacare Hospice and Beautiful Beginnings.
Funeral Services and Celebration of Mr. Dobbs life will be held at 10 AM, Saturday, September 9, 2017 from the Ward Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Stephanie Cox officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday, September 8, 2017 from 5-7 PM at Ward Wilson Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Alacare Hospice or to Beautiful Beginnings.
