Mr. Eugene J. Gramling, beloved husband and father, of Ariton, Alabama, age 90, died on September 25, 2019.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 A.M. Saturday, September 28, 2019, from Westview Heights United Methodist Church in Ozark with Reverend Dr. Jabe J. Fincher, Jr. and Reverend Henry Boynton officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens, Holman Funeral Home and Cremations of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home in Ozark Friday from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M.
Mr. Gramling was born April 19, 1929 in south Woodstock, Vermont, the son of Julius and Elizabeth Kruse Gramling, and attended Woodstock schools.
He served 20 years in the United States Army, serving tours in Europe, Korea, Panama Canal Zone, and Viet Nam. He retired at Fort Rucker, Alabama, in 1969. Following retirement, he attended Wallace Community College and worked 20 years as a small engine repairman at Sears & Roebuck. He was an active member of Westview Heights United Methodist Church in Ozark, serving his Lord faithfully in many capacities: Sunday School Superintendent, Chairman/member of Church Council, Board of Trustees, Buildings and Grounds, member of the Preschool Committee; and was available whenever a need arose.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Edward, Lawrence, Gerard, and Richard; and two sisters, Eleanor Gramling Walker and Veronica Gramling Morgan.
He is survived by his wife Mary Moore Gramling, Ariton; daughters, Deborah Cotton (Michael), Ozark, Janine Liebenguth (James), Luverne; one son, Andrew Gramling, Ozark; five grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Thomas, of Vermont, and Paul, of Louisiana, one sister, Bernadette Gramling Osmer of Manchester, New Hampshire.
