OZARK…Mr. Eugene Richard Scott, a resident of Ozark, died early Sunday evening, August 25, 2024, at his home. He was 88.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon, Wednesday, August 28, 2024, in the Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Adam Mulliner officiating. Graveside services, with military honors, will follow in Westview Memorial Cemetery. Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 11:00 until 12:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mr. Scott, son of the late Edward Carl Scott and Bessie Mae McFarland Scott, was a native of Memphis, Tennessee. He lived in various locations in the United States before moving to Ozark in 1977. Mr. Scott joined the United States Navy on March 21, 1955, and served on the USS Lexington, an aircraft carrier. While in the Navy, he travelled to Japan, Korea, San Diego, San Francisco, and Seattle, Washington. Following his service in the military, he met and married the love of his life, Nancy C. Anglin on June 10, 1961. Mr. Scott learned many skills, including being an excellent automobile mechanic, welding, laying ceramic tile, painting houses, painting tractor trailers, building houses and many other skills. He was preceded in death by a sister, Peggy Scott Ezell and a brother, James Douglas Scott.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Nancy Anglin Scott, Ozark; his children, Michael Eugene Scott, Richard Allen Scott (Amy), and Carolyn Paige Scott Rogers (Johnny), Ariton; grandchildren, Chelsea Brooks Scott Ross (Michael), Courtney Paige Rogers Smith (Freddie), Morgan Nichole Rogers Matthews (Wesley), Samuel David Rogers, Dean Mallie Scott (Cheyenne), and Rebecca Alain Scott (Robert Bishop); step-grandchildren, Josh Hood, Troy Hood, and Kayla Hood Screws; twelve great-grandchildren; two brothers, Charles Scott, Braintree, Massachusetts and Edward Scott, Louisiana; nieces, nephews, and cousins.
