Finley Brown Lee Wilson, a resident of Ashford, passed away peacefully at his home Saturday November 2, 2013 at his residence. He was 96.
Funeral services for Mr. Wilson will be held at 2 PM Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at Little Vine Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Paul Evans officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Southern Heritage directing. The family will receive friends from 6 PM until 8 PM on Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at the funeral home.
Mr. Wilson was born May 10, 1917 in Pineville, Kentucky, the son of the late William Elijah Wilson and Laura Bell Green Wilson. He made his home with his son, Jerry and daughter in law, Nina Wilson since the passing of his beloved wife, Evyline, in 1990. They loved and nurtured him for the past 23 years. Before moving to Ashford, he lived in Slocomb, Alabama. Prior to that he lived in Clear Creek, Kentucky which is just a littler “holler” outside Pineville where he was born. Mr. Wilson moved with his family to Leavittsburg, Ohio in the fifties and raised them there. He was employed by General Refractories Corporation, Warren, Ohio and after his retirement he moved back to Clear Creek. A few years later he moved to Slocomb.
Mr. Wilson is preceded in death by his loving wife, Evyline Thompson Wilson; two sons, Finley Chadwick Wilson and Clayton Samuel Perry; two half sisters, five brothers, seven sisters and two grandchildren.
Survivors include a sister, Betty Ruth Gibson, Pineville, KY; daughter in law, Kathy Perry, Slocomb, AL; four sons, Jerry W. Wilson (Nina), Ashford, AL, Gary F. Wilson (Stephanie), Canal Fulton, OH, Randall W. Wilson, Brookfield, OH, Phillip C. Wilson (Stephanie), Dothan; daughter, Patricia Gail Jennings-Davis, Burghill, OH; 25 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
