Mr. Fred Davis Cutchen, of Ariton passed away Wednesday, January 26, 2022, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, January 29, 2022, at the Clio Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, January 28, 2022, at Keahey Funeral Home in Clio. Rev. Curtis Rich will officiate the services. Burial will follow in the Salem Baptist Church Cemetery. with U.S. Navy military honors. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to the Salem Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
Pall bearers include Trey Green, Chris Green, Randall Gandy, Chris Pensinger, Ted Mclendon, and Mike McCoy.
Born July 9, 1926, in Henry County, Alabama to William Cody Cutchen and Ruth Evelyn Spann Cutchen, Fred graduated from Newville High School and then from Troy Teacher College with a bachelor’s degree in Math and Science. He began his teaching and coaching career at Abbeville High School, then taught and coached at Clayton High School then on to Dixie Academy for several years before returning to Abbeville High School where he retired. During his career he taught high school math and coached basketball, football, and girls' softball. He was appreciated and loved by all his players. He was a member of Clio Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and served for two years in the United States Navy. He will be greatly missed.
Left to cherish his memory, daughters, Glenda (Braxton) Green of Clayton, AL; Debbie (Frankie) Ivey of Elamville, AL; Salina (Butch) Harden of Georgetown, TX; sister, Ruby Grace Lowman of Gautier, MS; grandchildren, Trey (Melissa) Green of Troy, Chris (Kathryn) Green of Dothan, Tiffany (Randall) Gandy of Elamville; Kristie (Chris) Pensinger of Abbeville; Duncan Harden and Ashley Harden of Austin, TX; Paige (James) Morrison of Austin, TX, Kim Wortham from Georgetown, TX; great grandchildren, Emerson Green, Will Green, Ragan Gandy, Cody Wortham, Alexis Morrison; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Joann Cutchen and a brother, Wendell Cody Cutchen.
The family would like to express gratitude to the Southern Care Hospice of Enterprise and especially to his nurse, Courtney Faircloth, aide, Nikita McCrae, chaplain, Rev. Kevin Kelley, Peggy McCrae, Billy Fryer, Diana Fryer, and special friend Ted McLendon.
